Our Love to Admire

"Our Love to Admire" is the third studio album by American rock band Interpol, released on July 10, 2007, through Capitol Records and Parlophone. This album marked Interpol's departure from Matador Records, their previous label, making it their first and only album released on a major label.

Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village and the Magic Shop in New York City, "Our Love to Admire" showcased a departure from the band's earlier sound. Known for their post-punk revival style, Interpol introduced more elaborate musical arrangements on this album, which received a mixed reception from critics and fans alike. While some praised the album for its ambitious approach and lyrical depth, others felt that the new direction compromised the band's distinctive sound.

The lead single from the album, "The Heinrich Maneuver", was released on May 7, 2007, ahead of the album. It was followed by singles like "Mammoth" and "No I in Threesome". Despite the mixed critical reception, "Our Love to Admire" debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 chart, marking a commercial success for the band.

In the UK and Mexico, the album was re-released with a bonus DVD on November 19, 2007. This edition included music videos for "The Heinrich Maneuver" and "No I in Threesome", as well as live performances from the Astoria.

After the release of "Our Love to Admire", Interpol returned to Matador Records. Reflecting on the album, lead vocalist Paul Banks later described it as the worst experience the band had working on an album, largely due to the pressure and stress associated with being on a major label. Despite this, the album remains a notable chapter in Interpol's discography, marking a transitional period in their musical evolution.
