Dance Fever

"Dance Fever" marks the fifth studio album by English indie rock band Florence and the Machine, officially released on May 13, 2022, under Polydor Records. Initially planned for recording in New York City in early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic rerouted the production to London instead. Frontwoman Florence Welch attributed Iggy Pop as a primary musical influence, leading to an eclectic blend of styles ranging from progressive pop to indie pop, disco, and industrial music.

The album's title and theme derive from Welch's fascination with choreomania, a social phenomenon in early modern Europe characterized by erratic group dancing. Autumn de Wilde photographed the album cover and directed music videos for three singles: "King," "My Love," and "Free," alongside the track "Heaven Is Here."

"Dance Fever" achieved commercial success across Europe, the US, and Oceania. Debuting at number one on the UK Albums Chart, it became the band's fourth chart-topping album in their home country. It also reached the second position in Australia, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and Portugal, while securing top ten positions in various other markets. Critically acclaimed, the album is hailed as the band's most well-received release to date, lauded for its diverse sound, Welch's songwriting prowess, and powerful vocals. "King" garnered a Grammy Award nomination for Best Alternative Music Performance.

In support of "Dance Fever," Florence and the Machine embarked on the Dance Fever Tour, encompassing cities across North America, Europe, and Oceania.
