Lux

"Lux" is the twenty-fifth solo studio album by Brian Eno, released on November 13, 2012, through Warp Records. The album is a collection of ambient soundscapes that were originally installed in art galleries and airport terminals. Critical reception to the album was generally positive, with comparisons made to Eno's earlier ambient works. It was described as both relaxing and challenging, offering listeners a deep, reflective experience when engaged with critically.

In 2013, to accompany the release of Lux, Eno created a series of limited edition prints featuring the cover artwork, which were made available exclusively through his website.

The music for Lux was initially commissioned as part of an installation for the Great Gallery of the Palace of Venaria in Turin, Italy. This installation set the tone for the album, with its expansive, atmospheric qualities. Eno took a unique approach to promote the album by integrating it into public spaces. Following in the footsteps of his earlier ambient project Music for Airports, Lux was previewed at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in Terminal 2, where the music was played on a continuous loop for several days before the official release of the album.

Eno also organized listening parties in major cities like London, New York City, and Sydney to further promote Lux. On November 17, 2012, he curated a special online event called "Day of Light" on his website, where users were invited to submit digital photographs centered around the theme of "play of light." The best submissions were featured alongside a live stream of Lux, creating a multimedia experience for fans and adding another layer of interaction with the album's ambient nature.
