Till I Loved You

"Till I Loved You" is the twenty-fifth studio album by American singer Barbra Streisand, released on October 25, 1988, on Columbia Records. The album features a thematic structure that chronicles the stages of a romance and boasts high-budget production, involving numerous guest writers, producers, and musicians. Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager contributed three new songs, while Quincy Jones produced "The Places You Find Love," featuring backing vocals by Luther Vandross and Dionne Warwick. The title track, a duet with then-boyfriend Don Johnson, became a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

After her successful projects The Broadway Album and One Voice, Streisand aimed to return to the pop scene with a romantic concept album. The album captures a relationship's progression from beginning to end, concluding with a hopeful song about the future. The opening track, produced by Quincy Jones, later appeared on his Grammy-winning album Back on the Block.

The title track was initially associated with a project involving opera singer Plácido Domingo, and during the recording, Don Johnson reflected on the experience, praising Streisand's talent and character. Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager also produced three tracks for the album, emphasizing Streisand's unique vocal range. Phil Ramone produced "All I Ask of You," originally from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical The Phantom of the Opera, highlighting Streisand's ability to reinterpret established songs.
