Vol.I

Vol. 1 is the 2024 debut album by Quebec experimental duo Angine de Poitrine, and already contains the strange musical DNA that would later bring them international attention. Across six tracks, Khn de Poitrine’s microtonal guitar riffs and looping patterns collide with Klek de Poitrine’s restless drumming, odd time signatures and constantly shifting rhythms. The result blends math rock, progressive and psychedelic rock with sounds reminiscent of Turkish and Anatolian music, while repetition gives pieces such as “Sherpa,” “Tamebsz” and “Sahardnieh” an unexpectedly hypnotic, almost danceable quality. Released independently before the duo’s viral breakthrough, Vol. 1 shows that their bizarre masked image was backed from the beginning by a remarkably distinctive musical language.
