Bed-Sitter Images

"Bed Sitter Images" is the debut studio album by folk artist Al Stewart, released in 1967. It features orchestrations by Alexander Faris and is notable for its lyrical storytelling and melodic arrangements. The title track, along with the album itself, is listed on the record label as Bedsitter Images, lacking any hyphen or space between "Bed" and "sitter." The original 1967 cover spells it without a hyphen, a convention that appears in various reviews and on Stewart's official website.

In 1970, the album was reissued with a new cover and some additional tracks, known as The First Album (Bed-Sitter Images). This revised edition included new artwork and was aimed at refreshing interest in Stewart's early work. The album is now available as part of a 2-CD box set titled To Whom It May Concern, which includes Stewart's first three albums and the B-side of his first single, along with the extra tracks from the 1970 re-release.

Additionally, a CD reissue in 2007 by Collectors' Choice Music encompassed all tracks from both versions of the album, plus bonus material. In Japan, the album has been released under the title The News from Spain (The First Album), which includes some of Stewart's later recordings, further highlighting the album's enduring appeal and significance in his discography.
