Alice in Chains

"Unplugged" is a live album by the American rock band Alice in Chains, released on July 30, 1996, through Columbia Records. The recording took place on April 10, 1996, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Majestic Theatre for MTV's MTV Unplugged series. The performance was directed by Joe Perota and initially aired on MTV on May 28, 1996. The MTV Unplugged concert marked Alice in Chains' first live performance in two and a half years and featured acoustic renditions of their popular tracks and some lesser-known songs. During this performance, the band debuted a new song titled The Killer Is Me. The acoustic version of Over Now, which originally appeared on their 1995 self-titled album, was released as a single. The album achieved commercial success, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and later being certified platinum by the RIAA. The MTV Unplugged performance was also released on VHS in October 1996 and on DVD in October 1999. Additionally, a CD/DVD package with previously unaired footage was re-released on September 18, 2007, and the home video release received gold certification by the RIAA.
