"The Last Stage" is a compilation of unreleased Budgie tracks, primarily from the early-to-mid eighties. Many of these songs were intended for the follow-up to the 1982 album Deliver Us from Evil, which ultimately was never released. One track, "Beautiful Lies," was meant to be included on that album but didn't make the cut. It was previously featured on the Budgie compilation album An Ecstasy of Fumbling – The Definitive Anthology. The sound quality of the tracks varies, as each song was at a different level of completion before being shelved.
