"Nightflight" is a studio album by the Welsh rock band Budgie, released in October 1981. This album marks the band's transition into a more commercial hard-rock direction, while still retaining heavy elements of their past signature sound. "Nightflight" became Budgie's tenth studio album.
This particular album features a lineup of Burke Shelley on vocals and bass, John Thomas on guitars, and Steve Williams on drums. John Thomas, who had just joined Budgie, returned a harder-edged guitar to the Budgie soundscape. Interestingly, his arrival on the scene marked a somewhat return to the heavier sound of the band's earlier albums.
The most popular tracks from the album include "I Turned to Stone," "Keeping a Rendezvous," and "She Used Me Up". "I Turned to Stone" became a fan favorite -- notable for its melodic yet hard-hitting structure.
While the album didn't stand as a commercial breakthrough, it significantly contributed to the band's musical evolution and saw the establishment of Budgie's hard-rock era.
