"Future Blues" is the fifth studio album by American blues and rock band Canned Heat, released in 1970. This album is notable for being the last to feature the band's classic lineup, as key members Larry Taylor and Harvey Mandel left the band by July 1970 to collaborate with John Mayall, and Alan Wilson, a central figure in the band, tragically passed away on September 3, 1970.
Future Blues is also distinctive as it is the only classic-era Canned Heat studio album to feature Harvey Mandel on guitar, with Henry Vestine, the band's previous lead guitarist, having been part of earlier albums. The album includes a successful cover of Wilbert Harrison's "Let's Work Together," which became a hit single. Additionally, the track "London Blues" features guest musician Dr. John.
The album was re-released on CD in 2002 by MAM Productions, including five bonus tracks, which offered fans additional content and context for this pivotal release in the band's discography.
