Fairport Convention

"Farewell, Farewell" is a live album by Fairport Convention, recorded during their farewell tour in 1979. It marks the final appearance of fiddler and mandolinist Dave Swarbrick with the band. The album features tracks recorded at three different concerts: Birmingham University, Southampton University, and Derby Assembly Rooms. The performances on the album primarily consist of well-known tracks from Fairport Convention's previous studio albums. In 1997, in commemoration of the band's 30th anniversary, the album was remastered, repackaged, and re-released under the title "Encore Encore." This version included additional tracks from the 1979 tour: "The Hens March Through the Midden/Four Poster Bed," "Flatback Caper," and "Dirty Linen." Additionally, it featured the 1980 studio single "Rubber Band." "Farewell, Farewell" (or "Encore Encore") stands as a testament to Fairport Convention's influential career and their lasting impact on the folk rock genre.
