"Shaken 'n' Stirred" is the third solo studio album by Robert Plant, released on May 20, 1985, under his own label, Es Paranza. Produced by Plant, Benji Le Fevre, and Tim Palmer, the album achieved moderate success, peaking at No. 19 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 20 on the US Billboard 200.
The album is notable for featuring "Little by Little," which became Plant's second Mainstream Rock Tracks chart-topper, staying at No. 1 for two weeks and reaching No. 36 on the Hot 100 chart. Another track, "Sixes and Sevens," also charted on the Mainstream Rock chart, peaking at No. 18.
"Shaken 'n' Stirred" showcases a blend of rock, new wave, and experimental influences, reflecting Plant's willingness to explore different musical styles apart from his Led Zeppelin roots. One of the album's tracks, "Too Loud," stood out for its humorous and quirky style, influenced by David Byrne of Talking Heads. Plant recalls using backing vocals from some of Bette Midler's singers for this track, adding to its distinctive sound and playful nature.
In 2007, Rhino Entertainment released a remastered edition of "Shaken 'n' Stirred," which included a bonus track, underscoring the album's enduring appeal and relevance in Plant's solo catalog. The album remains a testament to Plant's artistic evolution and his ability to experiment with diverse musical genres while maintaining a distinctive voice and style.
