"Outlaw" is an album by the American band War, released in 1982 on RCA Records. This marked War's first album for RCA, following their previous releases on MCA and LA Records. The album featured a blend of funk, soul, and Latin influences characteristic of War's sound.
The band promoted the album with a North American tour to support its release. One of the standout tracks from the album, "Cinco de Mayo," became a popular seasonal standard for the band.
Following the departure of Alice Tweed Smith on vocals, the band lineup was reduced to eight members, although only seven are pictured on the album cover. Notably, Pat Rizzo is absent from the cover photo.
Several singles were released from "Outlaw" on RCA Victor, including "Cinco de Mayo" backed with "Don't Let No One Get You Down," which had been previously released on LA Records. Additional singles included "You Got the Power," "Outlaw," "Just Because," and a promotional single for "Baby It's Cold Outside."
In 1995, "Outlaw" was re-released on CD with a revised track order and the extended version of "Cinco de Mayo" included as a bonus track, offering fans a refreshed listening experience of the album's dynamic tracks.
