Peter Gabriel

"Plays Live" is the first live album and fifth overall by English rock musician Peter Gabriel, initially released in 1983 as a double album and long-play cassette featuring sixteen songs. In 1985, it was re-released as a single CD titled Plays Live (Highlights), containing twelve edited songs to fit the single disc format. The complete double album was re-released as a double CD set in 1987, and the Highlights version was remastered in 2002. In 2019, the full double-LP version was made available on streaming platforms, and in 2021, the original 2CD version was released in remastered form. The album's cover photograph was taken by Armando Gallo, who described his experience photographing Gabriel's concerts as synchronizing his camera clicks with the music's rhythm and lights. Gabriel appreciated Gallo's presence, expressing that he liked seeing a familiar face in the photography pit during his performances.
