"Ain't Complaining" stands as the eighteenth studio album by the British rock band Status Quo, initially released on the Vertigo label on June 6, 1988. Despite being the band's first album on Vertigo, it failed to crack the UK Top 10, breaking a streak of 12 studio albums reaching this milestone. Instead, it peaked at No. 12 upon entry. However, Status Quo reclaimed their Top 10 status just three years later with "Rock 'Til You Drop" in 1991.
The album spawned three singles: the title track, the ballad "Who Gets the Love?," and the jaunty "Burning Bridges," which notably incorporated elements of the traditional folk song "Darby Kelly" within its instrumental breaks. This release also marked the first contributions to the band's songwriting by John Edwards and Jeff Rich since joining Status Quo. Additionally, "Another Shipwreck," originally a solo track by Andy Bown, was included on the album with Rossi taking over lead vocals.
An interesting departure for Status Quo on this album was their endorsement of Charvel guitars. Reflecting on "Ain't Complaining," band member Rick Parfitt later expressed dissatisfaction, feeling that the music lacked weight and edge, leading to a perception that the band had lost touch with their authentic sound.
