"Rock 'til You Drop" is the 20th studio album by the English rock band Status Quo. Released on 7th October 1991, the album peels back to the group's roots with a 12-bar blues and boogie style. Despite being launched with great hype and a massive free concert at London's Wembley Stadium, it didn't achieve the commercial success the band or record company expected, having peaked at only No. 10 in the UK Albums Chart.
However, it is worth noting that the album made Status Quo the first band to score top ten UK album chart entries in five different decades. The concept of the album revolved around the idea of keeping going against all odds, symbolized by the "thirtysomething" band playing rock and roll. The tracks on the album are majorly blues and rock 'n' roll classics covers, while some are originals written by the band members.
Notable tracks from the album include "Fakin' the Blues", which was withdrawn from sale, "Rock 'til You Drop", which became the band's live staple, and "Can't Give You More", which was re-recorded for their 1996 Don't Stop album.
The album featured guest appearances from several renowned musicians, including Charles Hodges, Chas & Dave, and Geraint Watkins. Produced by Francis Rossi and the band's longtime producer Pip Williams, the album is both a nostalgic look back at their roots and a hard-charging push into the future.
