Status Quo

"Whatever You Want" is the twelfth studio album by British rock band Status Quo. It was produced by Pip Williams and recorded starting in December 1978 at Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, the Netherlands, with final mixes completed in London by March 1979. The album was released on October 12, 1979, and entered the UK Albums Chart at number three on October 20, 1979. The first single from the album, "Whatever You Want," was released on September 14, 1979, with "Hard Ride" as the B-side, reaching number four in the UK Singles Chart. The second single, "Living on an Island," with "Runaway" as the B-side, was released on November 16, 1979, and peaked at number 16. The album was remixed for the US market and released there in 1980 under the title Now Hear This. A deluxe remaster was released on CD in 2016, but it omitted two tracks, "Shady Lady" and "Your Smiling Face," which are only available on the original vinyl, cassette, and 8-track versions. In the US remixed version, the tracks "Whatever You Want" and "Living on an Island" were swapped in the running order.
