Status Quo

"Dog of Two Head" is the fourth studio album by the English rock band Status Quo, released by Pye Records in November 1971. At the time of recording, the band consisted of Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster, and John Coghlan. They had released a non-album single earlier that March called "Tune to the Music," which did not achieve commercial success. The band then focused on writing and recording new material, including the opening track "Umleitung," which had been composed the previous year. One of the notable songs from the album, "Mean Girl," would later become a UK Top 20 hit in April 1973, following their success with "Paper Plane" from their next album, Piledriver. When "Mean Girl" gained traction, the record label decided to release a new single from Dog of Two Head, which was a re-recording of "Gerdundula," the B-side to their 1970 single "In My Chair." This new single was released in July 1973 but failed to chart. The B-side of this release was "Lakky Lady," co-written by Rossi and Parfitt, from their previous album Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon.
