"Spare Parts" is the second studio album by the English rock band Status Quo, released in September 1969. The album features the original four members of the band, Francis Rossi, Alan Lancaster, John Coghlan, and Roy Lynes.
Interestingly, "Spare Parts" is the final album of the band's psychedelic era, before they transitioned to a more straightforward rock style. As a result, various songs on the album demonstrate a stylistic departure from the band's earlier work, which is heavily influenced by psychedelic rock and British pop.
Despite its now historical significance, "Spare Parts" underwent poor sales upon release and was widely panned by critics. Yet, it includes the UK Top 20 single "Are You Growing Tired of My Love," which helped the album achieve some commercial success. Despite its initial reception, "Spare Parts" has since been re-evaluated in light of the band's later success and is now considered a significant piece of their discography.
The album was produced by John Schroeder and was initially distributed by Pye Records. The cover artwork was designed by Tony Benyon, a popular artist of the era. The original version of this album was a mono recording, but it was later reissued in stereo.
