Atomic Rooster

"Homework" is an album featuring previously unreleased demos by John Du Cann, with drum programming by Paul Hammond. These demos were recorded between 1979 and 1981 during Du Cann's tenure with the reformed Atomic Rooster. The band had signed to Polydor Records with the intention of releasing an album following the success of two singles, "Play It Again" (1981) and "End Of The Day" (1982). Despite performing well in rock clubs and specialist rock charts, the singles did not achieve national chart success, leading to Polydor dropping the band. Internal tensions and Du Cann's departure from Atomic Rooster followed shortly after. Du Cann's demos remained unreleased for several decades until 2008 when he licensed them for release under the Atomic Rooster name through Angel Air Records. The album "Homework" also includes the six A and B-sides from the Polydor singles, which featured John McCoy of Gillan on bass. Compiled and annotated by Joe Geesin from Record Collector, the CD version of "Homework" includes insights and quotes from John Du Cann himself, providing a retrospective look at this era of Atomic Rooster's history.
