Sweet

"Waters Edge" is the eighth studio album by Sweet, a British glam rock band famously known for their harmonic and catchy tunes. Released in the UK in 1980 under the title "Sweet VI", it was re-titled "Waters Edge" for international releases. Following their success in the 1970s, Sweet experienced some turbulence in the 80s as the glam rock wave declined. The album was the second one to be released by the band as a three-piece since Brian Connolly left in 1979. "Waters Edge" takes a step towards a more hard-rock and new wave sound, possibly influenced by changing trends in the musical landscape. Mick Tucker and Steve Priest delivered a distinctive sound while Andy Scott brought his characteristic guitar-play and songwriting skills. The tracklist of the album includes "Sixties Man," "Give the Lady Some Respect," "Penetration," and "Love is Like Oxygen". The former two songs are reflective of criticisms of societal and social issues, often featuring distinctive twists. The latter is perhaps the band's most successful attempt at merging their traditional glam rock style with a more contemporary twist. "Waters Edge" represents a notable shift in Sweet’s musical journey and their efforts to adapt to, and evolve with, the changing music world. Despite all the challenges, Sweet managed to leave their everlasting impact on the rock music universe with this album.
