"Universe" is the twelfth and final studio album by German pop duo Modern Talking. Released on March 31, 2003, it features a mix of dance pop and Euro disco, genres that Modern Talking was renowned for. The album was position 8th in the German albums chart and was certified gold later for selling over 100,000 copies.
Regarding the background, "Universe" came roughly two years after their previous album "Victory." It included twelve new tracks and two remixes, echoing their trademark sound of catchy melodies, high-pitched male harmonies, and synthesized beats. The lead single, "TV Makes the Superstar," peaked at number 2 on the German singles chart, making it one of the highlights of the album.
Despite the commercial success, the album marked the end of Modern Talking's comeback that began in 1998. Shortly after the release of "Universe," Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen announced the end of Modern Talking for the second and final time. Therefore, "Universe" holds a special place in the group's trajectory as it encapsulates their awaited return and final departure from the music scene.
