Poco

"Head over Heels" is an album by the American country rock band Poco, which was released in July 1975. It is the group's 10th album and their second on ABC Records. The project represents a period of significant transition for the band, being the last to feature founding member Richie Furay and the first to include new member, drummer George Grantham. The album incorporated a pop-influenced country rock sound, but it did not yield any significant hits at the time of its release. However, two singles "Keep On Tryin'" and "Making Love" managed to reach the charts. "Keep on Tryin'" is Poco’s biggest hit song, peaking at number 50 on Billboard’s Hot 100, despite not being typical of the band’s sound. Richie Furay, who had been one of the key members of Poco, departed from the band after the release of the album. His departure marked the end of an era for Poco, as he had been a defining member of the original roster. Furay felt that he had taken the band as far as he could, and decided to pursue a solo career. The remaining members of Poco decided to continue on without him, leading to a shift in their musical style and the ushering in of a new era. Despite Furay's departure, the album arguably depicts Poco at one of their creative peaks, delivering a diverse collection of songs that stands the test of time. "Head over Heels" might not have been commercially successful at its release, but it continues to be celebrated as a significant contribution to country rock genre.
