Blue Öyster Cult

"Curse of the Hidden Mirror" is the thirteenth studio album by American rock band Blue Öyster Cult, released on June 5, 2001. The album's only single, "Pocket," received poor reviews, contributing to lackluster sales. Following these issues and poor relations with Sanctuary Records, the band was dropped by the label and did not release another studio album until 2020's "The Symbol Remains." The album's title is derived from a song on the unreleased 1970 album by the Stalk-Forrest Group, which eventually became Blue Öyster Cult. Cyberpunk author John Shirley contributed lyrics for many tracks on the album. "Out of the Darkness," initially featured in the 1992 film "Bad Channels," and "Showtime," originally intended for the album "Cultösaurus Erectus," were included on this record. "Curse of the Hidden Mirror" is notable for being the last Blue Öyster Cult album to feature longtime keyboardist Allen Lanier, who passed away in 2013.
