"Fire of Unknown Origin" is the eighth studio album by the American rock band Blue Öyster Cult, released on June 22, 1981. Produced by Martin Birch, the album marked a resurgence in the group's commercial success following two albums with lackluster sales. It included the hit single "Burnin' for You," which reached the Top 40 and topped Billboard's Album Rock Tracks chart.
The album itself peaked at number 24 on the Billboard 200, making it Blue Öyster Cult's highest-charting studio album up to that point. "Fire of Unknown Origin" also marked the final studio LP with the band's original lineup. During the subsequent tour, original drummer Albert Bouchard was dismissed from the band, leading to significant changes in their lineup dynamics.
