Freddie Mercury

Mr. Bad Guy is a solo album by Freddie Mercury, best known as the dynamic frontman of the rock band Queen. Released on April 29, 1985, the album is unique because it's Mercury's only solo album completed during his lifetime. Incorporating a variety of musical styles including disco, dance-pop, and ballads, the album has a different sound to Queen's music. Mercury started working on the album in 1983, while Queen was taking a break after their Hot Space Tour. Though all four members of Queen had solo projects during this period, Mr. Bad Guy was notably the first solo release from any of the band's members. It includes eleven tracks, all written by Mercury himself, with standout singles like "I Was Born to Love You" and "Living on My Own". The album, largely self-produced by Mercury, received mixed reviews from critics initially but has since gained respect for its creative departure from Mercury’s usual style with Queen. Despite the lukewarm critical reception, Mr. Bad Guy reached the UK Top 10 and enjoyed considerable commercial success in Europe. The album was remastered in 2000 with additional bonus tracks and later reissued again in 2019 as part of the box set "Never Boring".
