Wishbone Ash

"Front Page News" is the eighth studio album by British rock band Wishbone Ash. Released in 1977, it was produced by Ron Albert and Howard Albert for Miles Copeland's BTM Records. The album is considered by fans to be one of the band's finest works. Wishbone Ash, renowned for their pioneering twin lead guitar style, incorporated more soft rock and acoustic ballads into the album, showcasing their musical versatility and growth. The album artwork was inspired by the infamous "Dewey Defeats Truman" incident and shows band member Martin Turner holding a newspaper with a headline that reads, "Martin Quits Group." The album features a total of nine tracks with the title track "Front Page News" being the highlight of the album. Other noteworthy tracks include "Midnight Dancer" and "Goodbye Baby Hello Friend." However, despite the album's artistic merits, it failed to make a significant commercial impact. The lineup of the band during the recording included the likes of Martin Turner, Andy Powell, Laurie Wisefield, and Steve Upton. Together, they wove a musical tapestry of progressive rock, hard rock, and elements of folk that have stood the test of time, further cementing Wishbone Ash's legacy in the annals of rock history.
