Wishbone Ash

"New England" is the seventh studio album by British rock band Wishbone Ash. It was released in 1976 and is one of the band's many records that were produced by Ron Albert and Howard Albert. The album marked the return of original guitarist Ted Turner, which rejuvenated the band's creative spirit. The album contains a diverse variety of rock, hard rock, and folk-oriented songs, with styles ranging from acoustic ballads like "You Rescue Me" to the multi-layered guitar driven and crafted instrumental, "The King Will Come." "New England" also achieved success on a commercial level, reaching #22 in the UK Albums Chart and #142 in the US Billboard 200. The album was recorded at Criteria Sound Studios in Miami, Florida, a shift from their usual recording locations in England. The change of scenery reflected in their music with a refreshing new sound. Despite being less known in comparison to the band's earlier works such as "Argus" and "Pilgrimage," "New England" holds a special place among fans and critics alike for its varied musicality and the energetic return of Ted Turner. The cover artwork is also notable as it was designed by Hipgnosis, renowned for creating iconic cover art for numerous rock and progressive bands.
