"The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands" is the fourth studio album by the American rock band the Turtles, released in November 1968 by White Whale Records. Produced by Chip Douglas, who had previously worked with the band and later with The Monkees, the album features a concept where the Turtles portray various fictional bands, each performing in distinct musical styles.
This concept album marked John Barbata's final recordings with the band before he departed to join Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. His replacement, John Seiter, who previously played with Spanky and Our Gang, also contributed to the album, although specific details of his involvement remain unclear.
Known for its innovative approach, "The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands" includes tracks that parody and pay homage to different genres and bands of the era. Some copies of the album were retitled as "Elenore," named after one of its notable tracks. The album remains a notable example of creative experimentation within the 1960s rock music scene.
