"Scorching Beauty" is the fifth studio album by the American hard rock band Iron Butterfly. Released in 1975, it marked a reformation of the band after a four-year hiatus, featuring drummer Ron Bushy as the sole remaining member from their previous lineup. The new formation included Erik Brann on guitar (from the classic lineup), along with Phil Kramer and Howard Reitzes.
The album cover, designed by Ernie Cefalu and illustrated by Drew Struzan, showcased a visual style distinct from the band's earlier albums. Despite the efforts put into its production and the reunion of key members, "Scorching Beauty" and its follow-up, "Sun and Steel," released later in 1975, failed to achieve commercial success. Consequently, tracks from "Scorching Beauty" have often been overlooked on Iron Butterfly compilations and greatest hits collections.
Musically, the album continued Iron Butterfly's exploration of hard rock and psychedelic sounds, albeit with a lineup that struggled to recapture the success of their earlier years. Despite its commercial disappointment, "Scorching Beauty" remains a notable entry in the band's discography, reflecting a transitional period marked by lineup changes and shifting musical landscapes in the mid-1970s rock scene.
