Robin Trower

"In the Line of Fire" is an album by the English blues rock guitarist, Robin Trower. Released in 1990, it marks the tenth studio album of Trower's prolific career. Trower, a former member of Procol Harum, is recognized for his iconoclastic guitar sound, often compared to legendary musician Jimi Hendrix. The album, taking a turn towards a more commercial rock sound, portrays the artist's continued evolution in the genre. Despite the heavier emphasis on rock, the blues infused guitar playing that Trower is known for is still very much present in the album. Although it did not chart upon its release, "In the Line of Fire" has earned a steadfast niche following over the years for its unique musical blend. This album sees Trower showcasing his matchless guitar skills and also reveals his songwriting prowess. The songs are a mixture of blues, rock and pop, displaying Trower's genre-spanning talent. The band line-up for this album includes Trower on guitar and vocals, Dave Bronze on bass and vocals, and Pete Thompson on drums. Interestingly, Trower employed producer Eddie Kramer, known for his work with Jimi Hendrix, which bolstered the album’s sound considerably. "In the Line of Fire" presents a solid piece of bluesy rock music, with Trower's distinctive guitar delivery at the album’s forefront, exemplifying his status as a leading figure within the guitar hero pantheon.
