Steve Miller

"Brave New World" is the third studio album by the American rock band Steve Miller Band, released in June 1969. This album marked a transitional period for the band, as it was their first release after the departure of founding members Boz Scaggs and Jim Peterman. Ben Sidran joined the band, replacing Peterman on keyboards. The album achieved moderate commercial success, reaching number 22 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It has also been recognized in music lists, such as Colin Larkin's "All Time Top 1000 Albums" (2000), where it was voted number 676. A notable highlight of "Brave New World" is the track "My Dark Hour," which features contributions from Paul McCartney under the pseudonym "Paul Ramon." McCartney provided backing vocals, drums, guitar, and bass guitar for the song. The collaboration came about when other members of The Beatles failed to attend a recording session, prompting producer Glyn Johns to suggest Miller and McCartney work together to make use of the available time. "Brave New World" showcases Steve Miller Band's evolving sound and their ability to adapt to lineup changes while maintaining their distinctive rock style. The collaboration with Paul McCartney on "My Dark Hour" adds a unique element to the album, highlighting the band's connections within the music industry at the time.
