"Home" marks Procol Harum's fourth album release in 1970. With significant lineup changes, including the departure of organist Matthew Fisher and bassist David Knights, the band welcomed bassist/organist Chris Copping. This transformation brought a return to the R&B sound reminiscent of their earlier incarnation as the Paramounts. Initial sessions at Trident Studios in London were unsatisfactory, leading to a restart at Abbey Road Studios under producer Chris Thomas and engineer Jeff Jarratt. The album's cover, a parody of the board game snakes and ladders, featured band members. Upon its release, "Home" achieved moderate success, charting in the US and UK, with the single "Whiskey Train" preceding its launch.
