"The Whole Thing's Started" is the second album by the Australian soft rock band Air Supply, released in July 1977. The album is a fusion of soft rock and pop, produced by Peter Dawkins with Air Supply line-up as a trio. The members included Graham Russell, Russell Hitchcock, and new member Frank Esler-Smith - who arranged all the tracks and played keyboard.
This album marked the beginning of the group's use of the orchestral sound with an emphasis on the piano for which they would become known. The record features nine compelling tracks. However, none of the songs were released as singles, and the album didn't fare well commercially.
Despite its initial lackluster reception, the record helped to further establish the signature sound that the group would become recognized for in their future works. It features strong, emotive vocals layered over a backdrop of lush orchestration and catchy melodies, a testament to the band's songcraft even in their early years.
