Gary Moore

"Scars" is a 2002 album by the Gary Moore-led blues rock band Scars, which should not be confused with the Edinburgh post-punk group of the same name. Gary Moore formed the band Scars in 2002 with former Skunk Anansie bassist Cass Lewis and Primal Scream drummer Darrin Mooney. Moore was highly impressed by Mooney's drumming during auditions and, upon Lewis's addition as bassist, the band's chemistry was instantly evident. The combination of their talents created a cohesive and natural sound that Moore felt was exceptional. The album, released on September 2, 2002, through Sanctuary Records, features a modern take on blues rock reminiscent of the styles of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The title "Scars" could reference both Moore's personal emotional scars and the physical scars he sustained in a bar dispute during the late 1970s while defending his girlfriend.
