The Hollies

"Butterfly" is the seventh studio album by British band The Hollies, released in November 1967. Showcasing psychedelic pop and orienting towards heavy pop songwriting, this album represents a departure from the usual beat music often associated with the group. The album features two compositions by members Graham Nash, Allan Clarke, and Tony Hicks - "Dear Eloise" and "Try It". The album was not a commercial success, however it has since been critically acclaimed and recognized for its pioneering in psychedelic music. "Butterfly" includes songs such as "Elevated Observations?", "Pegasus", "Would You Believe?", and "Wishyouawish." Although it didn't perform well on charts initially, it is now regarded as one of The Hollies' best works. The album demonstrates an increased influence from The Hollies' contemporaries, such as The Beatles, with multi-layered lush harmonies, more complex musical arrangements and psychedelic influences. This was the last Hollies album to feature Graham Nash until 1983's What Goes Around.
