"Shhh" is the fifth studio album by the British band Chumbawamba. Originally conceived and recorded under the title "Jesus H. Christ," the album initially relied heavily on samples. However, due to difficulties in securing rights for many of these samples, the band re-worked the album to defend their artistic intent and criticize censorship.
The album sleeve artwork itself became part of the narrative, featuring various rejection letters the band received when seeking rights to the Christ samples. "Shhh" is widely regarded as a "genre landmark," marking a significant point in Chumbawamba's career and in the evolution of their sound and approach to music.
In 2003, the album was re-released alongside "Slap!" as part of the compilation "Shhhlap!" by MUTT Records, further solidifying its impact and reach within the music industry.
