"Breathless" is a studio album by English progressive rock band Camel. Released in 1978, it is the last album to include original member and guitarist Andrew Latimer. The album showcases a more commercial direction, yet continues that band's exploration into jazz and Canterbury-style rock. Latimer co-produced the record along with Rhett Davies.
The album features 10 tracks, including the resonant instrumentals "Echoes" and "Wing and a Prayer", which exemplify the album's more popular leanings. The first half of the record is considered the heaviest Camel plays, while the second half elaborates their jazz influence. The album also includes a cover of the Beatles' "For No One".
Despite its stylistic diversity, "Breathless" received mixed reviews and lacked strong chart performance. However, it has since garnered appreciation from fans and critics for its innovative fusion of progressive rock and jazz elements.
The band's lineup during "Breathless" was Andrew Latimer on guitars, vocals, and flute, Andy Ward on drums and percussion, Richard Sinclair on vocals and bass, and Pete Bardens on keyboards and synthesizers. Jan Schelhaas also contributed on the keyboards.
