Everything But The Girl

"Amplified Heart" marks the eighth studio album by the English musical duo Everything but the Girl, hitting the music scene on June 13, 1994, through Blanco y Negro Records in the UK and on July 19, 1994, via Atlantic Records in the United States and Canada. Recorded and mixed in London during the winter of 1993 to 1994, the album showcases a primarily acoustic-driven sound. The album's breakthrough came with the dance remix of the track "Missing," propelling Everything but the Girl into the mainstream spotlight. "Missing" climbed to number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in early 1996, enjoying over a year of continuous airplay and introducing the duo to audiences worldwide. As a result, "Amplified Heart" garnered significant success, selling over 232,000 copies in the United States alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and surpassing the 1,000,000 mark in global sales. In 2012, "Amplified Heart" received a deluxe reissue by Edsel Records, offering fans a comprehensive two-disc set. Additionally, a 25th-anniversary pressing of the album on vinyl was released in 2019, with the Todd Terry club mix of "Missing" notably absent from the vinyl edition but included as a bonus track in later pressings of the CD.
