The Pale Fountains

"...From Across the Kitchen Table" is the second and final studio album by the English band The Pale Fountains. Released in 1985, this follows their debut album "Pacific Street" which was launched in 1984. The band, famous for their blend of post punk and pop, is led by frontman Mick Head, accompanied by Chris McCaffery, Thomas Whelan, and Andy Diagram. The album includes ten tracks, among them are the critically praised "Jean's Not Happening" and "These Are the Things." The album, however, did not achieve great commercial success, contributing to the group's dissolution later in 1985. Despite this, "...From Across the Kitchen Table" is seen by many fans and critics as a classic of the period, displaying a unique mix of indie pop, jazz, and folk influences making it timeless, emotional, and adventurous. The band members later went on to form other groups, with Mick Head gaining considerable recognition with his later band, Shack. A distinct music style, insightful lyrics and songwriting prowess displayed in the album "...From Across The Kitchen Table" carries the legacy of The Pale Fountains and holds a special place in the hearts of indie pop enthusiasts.
