"Miles Davis, Vol. 2" is the fifth 10-inch LP by trumpeter Miles Davis, recorded on April 20, 1953, and released later that year by Blue Note. This album marked Davis's second session and first release for the label.
The recording occurred during a challenging period in Davis's life, as he was struggling with heroin addiction. In his autobiography, he recalls being high in the studio alongside Jimmy Heath and Art Blakey. The song "C.T.A." was named after Heath's girlfriend, Connie Theresa Ann.
In early 1956, Blue Note reissued the material from Davis's three sessions on two 12-inch LPs, titled Miles Davis Vols. 1 & 2. This reissue followed Davis winning the DownBeat readers poll for best trumpeter and was among the first releases in Blue Note's new 1500 series of 12-inch LPs.
