"Cyclorama" is the 14th studio album by American rock band Styx, released in February 2003. This album was the first studio offering from Styx without long-time keyboardist/vocalist Dennis DeYoung, as it showcased Lawrence Gowan as the new keyboardist. It marked the first new-arrival guitarist Tommy Shaw and bassist Chuck Panozzo's collaboration and also featured Glen Burtnik, who had taken over bass when Chuck Panozzo stepped down due to health reasons.
"Cyclorama" is an exploration of various rock subgenres, including hard rock, prog-rock, and pop, among others, reflecting the versatility of Styx. Notable tracks in the album comprised "One with Everything," "Waiting for Our Time," and "Yes I Can." Furthermore, several guest musicians, such as John Waite, Brian Wilson, and Billy Bob Thornton, each lent their talents to a track on the album.
Overall, the album retained Styx's knack for creating intricate but melodic rock music. Despite its complex line-up changes and introductions, Cyclorama showed Styx's sustained relevance and creativity in the music scene. All its tracks were penned by the band members themselves, underscoring their legacy as a band of songwriters and not just performers. Despite not making a considerable commercial impact, the album garnered positive responses from fans and critics, celebrating its return to form with its classic progressive, arena-style rock.
