"Projects in the Jungle" is the second studio album by the American heavy metal band Pantera, released on July 27, 1984, through Metal Magic Records. The band was still finding their creative identity when they recorded this album, which incorporates elements of glam metal. "Projects in the Jungle" is the group's first album to feature the same lineup as that of their 1990 breakthrough album "Cowboys from Hell," with Phil Anselmo on vocals, Dimebag Darrell on guitar, Rex Brown on bass, and Vinnie Paul on drums.
Despite the experimental nature of the album, it managed to show the early evolution of Pantera's aggressive style: a radical change from their first album's glam-tinged metal and a step closer to the heavier direction for which they would become renowned. Enthusiastically received, it included notable tracks like "All Over Tonight," "Out for Blood," "Heavy Metal Rules," and "Only a Heartbeat Away." The album showcased Pantera starting to come into their own as a band, even as they were still years away from the style that would ultimately define them.
