"See Ya 'Round" is the tenth and final studio album by the iconic New Zealand new wave band Split Enz, released in 1984. This album came after the departure of founding member Tim Finn, whose solo career had begun to take off the year before. With Tim Finn's exit, his brother Neil Finn became the band's primary songwriter, although he was initially uncertain about stepping into the role of leading Split Enz. Neil announced that See Ya 'Round would be the band's final studio album. At the time, Neil only had enough material for an EP, so the album was completed with experimental and lighter contributions from the other band members.
The first five tracks of the album were originally intended to form an EP, which included songs like "Breakin' My Back" and "Years Go By." During this period, Neil Finn also wrote early versions of what would later become Crowded House hits, such as "Something So Strong" (which was initially a ballad) and early versions of "I Walk Away" ("Love and Success" and "Your Inspiration"). Tim Finn had also recorded demos for the next Enz album, but these would remain unreleased due to his departure.
The album's lead single, "I Walk Away," had a low-budget, quirky video clip featuring the band sticking their faces through cut-outs, mirroring the album's artwork. Although the song was released as a 12" single with an extended remix, neither the single nor the album was released in the United States. This decision was made after the commercial failure of the previous album, Conflicting Emotions, in the U.S., causing their American label, A&M Records, to drop the band.
See Ya 'Round was initially released only in Australia and New Zealand, where it charted at #29 and #5, respectively. The album was later released in Canada with an alternate cover featuring a grey border instead of the original orange. The release was followed by a second single, "One Mouth Is Fed," and a final "Enz With a Bang" tour, where Tim Finn returned for a farewell performance with the band. During this tour, Neil met Nick Seymour, who would later become the bassist for Crowded House.
In 1985, a live album was released, capturing songs from the band's farewell "Enz With a Bang" tour, as well as performances from the 1982 Time and Tide tour. The album marked the official end of Split Enz, but Neil Finn would go on to form Crowded House, continuing his musical career in a new direction.
