Boz Scaggs

"Dig" is the twelfth studio album by American musician Boz Scaggs, released in September 2001. After a hiatus of nearly a decade from the music industry, Scaggs returned in full force with this album which sees him exploring new sounds and musical landscapes. His matured voice lends a distinct richness to the album. Featuring production from veteran producers Danny Kortchmar and David Paich, the album has an all-star lineup that includes some of the best session musicians around, such as drummer Steve Jordan, guitarist Ray Parker Jr., and bassist Willie Weeks. "Dig" is arguably one of Scaggs’ most varied albums that balances his signature smooth blue-eyed soul with more experimental electronic sounds. The album received predominantly positive responses from critics and fans alike and includes noteworthy tracks like "Pay It Forward," "King Of El Paso," and "Call That Love." With "Dig," Scaggs reaffirmed his place as an artist able to blend styles like blues, R&B, rock, and pop into a uniquely soulful mix. Despite the long hiatus before its release, the album exemplifies that Scaggs had not lost his knack for blending soulful, bluesy elements with pop-friendly hooks, and it offered a refreshing chapter in the continued development of his sound.
