Whitney Houston

"My Love Is Your Love" is the fourth studio album by American singer Whitney Houston, released worldwide on November 17, 1998. It became one of the best-selling albums by a female artist, selling over 10 million copies globally. The album marked Houston's first studio release in eight years, following I'm Your Baby Tonight (1990), though she had contributed to three movie soundtracks during that time. Musically, My Love Is Your Love is a blend of hip hop, R&B, pop, gospel, and dance music, showcasing a more contemporary sound for Houston. The album features a range of prominent producers and collaborators, including Whitney Houston herself, Rodney Jerkins, Soulshock & Karlin, Missy Elliott, Wyclef Jean, David Foster, Lauryn Hill, and Babyface. One of the key features of the album is its incorporation of hip hop elements, which were not as prevalent in her previous work. The album was a commercial success, particularly in Europe, where it spent six weeks at #1 on the European Top 100 Albums chart and sold over 4.3 million copies. It also earned a four-times platinum certification in the United States. My Love Is Your Love produced several successful singles, including "When You Believe" (a duet with Mariah Carey), which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 71st Academy Awards, and "Heartbreak Hotel," which featured Kelly Price and Faith Evans. Other notable tracks include "It's Not Right but It's Okay," which became one of her signature songs, the title track "My Love Is Your Love," which was certified platinum, and "I Learned from the Best." Critically, My Love Is Your Love received positive reviews and is widely regarded as one of Houston’s best studio albums. It earned Houston seven Grammy nominations at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards in 2000, including Best R&B Album and Best R&B Song, and she won Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for "It's Not Right But It's Okay," marking her sixth and final Grammy Award.
