Diana Ross & the Supremes and the Temptations

"Together" is a collaborative studio album by Diana Ross & the Supremes and The Temptations. It was released by Motown Records on September 23, 1969. It's the second of three albums that Ross and the Supremes and The Temptations released together. The record is composed of duets between the two groups and features twelve tracks in total. The album was designed as a follow-up to the two groups' critically and commercially successful first project together, "Diana Ross & The Supremes Join The Temptations." At the time of the album's production, Diana Ross had decided to leave The Supremes to go solo, and, as such, "Together" marked one of her final projects with the group. Among the standout tracks on the album is the cover of the song "The Weight," which was made famous by The Band. This track was released as a single and reached number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself peaked on the Billboard LPs chart at number 28 and remained on the charts for 57 weeks – showing its sustained popularity. Despite the eventual dissolution of the original groups, this album is a testament to the unprecedented collaborations that defined much of Motown's success during the period. The harmonies and musical synergies between Diana Ross & The Supremes and The Temptations are creatively captured in this album that showcases the very best of Motown's Golden Era.
