"Shag Times" is an album by The KLF, a British electronic band known for their innovative style. The album was released on January 16, 1989, by the record label KLF Communications and combines original material and remixes of their earlier works. It is primarily categorized within the house music genre, although it recognizes influences from other styles. Members of The KLF, Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, originally formed the group as Justified Ancients of Mu Mu (The JAMs), focusing on sample-heavy productions. Shag Times represents the transitional phase of the band from the JAMs' hip-hop-based style to the more ambient-influenced style of The KLF, marking a shift in their musical direction. It comprises of tracks like "What Time is Love? (Live at Trancentral)" and "3 a.m. Eternal," which have gone on to become major chart-topping hits. Despite this, the album did not achieve the anticipated commercial success at the time and was later deleted from the record company's catalogue, making it a sought-after release among collectors and fans. This album stands as an important point in The KLF's history, illustrating their musical evolution and highlighting their place in the development of electronic music during the late 1980s.
