"Bachman–Turner Overdrive II" is the second studio album by Canadian rock band Bachman–Turner Overdrive (BTO), released in December 1973. The album catapulted the band into commercial success, reaching #4 on the US Billboard 200 chart and #6 on the Canadian RPM Albums chart.
Following their 1973 self-titled debut album, which failed to impress both critically and commercially, the band adopted a more radio-friendly sound for "Bachman–Turner Overdrive II". Richie Bachman, Tim Bachman, Fred Turner, and Randy Bachman composed all the songs on the album. Notably, it includes two of the band’s best-known songs, "Takin' Care of Business" and "Let It Ride", which have since become staples of classic rock radio.
The album represents a significant change in the direction for the band, moving away from their previous heavier sound known on their debut album. This new direction was embraced by fans and critics alike, leading to mainstream success and industry recognition. Many consider this album an essential part of the BTO discography, as it helped define the band’s signature sound and established them as a major player in the 1970s rock scene.
