"Street Action" is the seventh studio album by Canadian rock band Bachman–Turner Overdrive, also known as BTO. The album was released in February 1978.
After enjoying great commercial success in the mid-1970s, Bachman-Turner Overdrive underwent several lineup changes with the mainstay figures being the brothers, Randy and Robbie Bachman. However, for "Street Action," the band consisted of C.F. Turner, Rob Bachman, and Blair Thornton, with Fred Turner returning and replacing Randy Bachman, which was a significant change in the band's dynamic.
The album marked the band's return to a harder rock sound compared to their previous couple of albums that had a more pop music orientation. Despite this return to the band's musical roots, "Street Action" did not restore BTO to the commercial success they had enjoyed previously. The album failed to crack the US Top 100 and generated no hit singles. Nevertheless, it has remained a favorite among fans for its straightforward rock production and energy.
Overall, "Street Action" can be seen as a product of its time, reflecting the shift towards harder and heavier rock sound that was apparent in the late '70s music scene. It is an important part of the band's discography due to its reflection of the member's musical versatility during a period of artistic and commercial transition for the band.
